Who is Karen Jacobsen?
"I was brought to tears when I heard (Ready For What I Came Here For) live. It resonated with me so much I felt almost like the song was written for me.”
You have likely heard her voice give you directions in your car in over a billion GPS and smartphone devices. Karen Jacobsen is a prolific songwriter, creating melodic, piano-based songs since her first song Kurly Queen was written at the age of 7 in her home town Mackay in the tropics of North Queensland, Australia. In a 1970's living room she sang every ABBA and Olivia Newton-John song into her hair brush dreaming big dreams from a small town.
Realizing many of those dreams, as a singer, songwriter, pianist she has graced major stages, lived and performed in New York City for two decades, enjoyed wide media attention including being called "hypnotic" by Harry Connick Jnr on his national US talk show and as a clue in The New York Times crossword puzzle.
In concert you can expect an evening of sparkling entertainment by an artist who has shared the stage with Norah Jones, Christopher Cross, Cyndi Lauper, Neil Sedaka and Toni Childs, sung national anthems in stadiums across the USA, and believes in the beauty and healing power of music.
“A super musical performance: Karen Jacobsen, in a spectacular gown, is beautiful, funny, a lovely light-fingered pianist and a terrific singer with a fine clear voice who writes melodically original personal songs giving glimpses of her life and relationships. She totally engages her audience with her charm, her voice and her wit and she can hold a note like Jerry Colonna, It’s a treat to be entertained by this talented, lovely woman. Catch her if you can. It’s one of the best performances of the decade.” - Richmond Shepard“
An in-demand motivational speaker, her onstage presence leaves everyone inspired and entertained.
